And it’s for sure your whole family will. Yeah, you’re probably like we were when we first heard about this. Spinach? In a smoothie? Yuck. Right? But if you’ve had one that was actually yucky, it probably didn’t follow this spinach smoothie recipe.
Maybe you’re curious why a spinach smoothie recipe would be on a hyperbaric chamber website.
That makes sense. What’s spinach got to do with oxygen? Turns out…quite a bit. In fact, spinach (and other leafy greens) helps your body generate nitric oxide. Notice the “ox”? That has to do with oxygen. See how we tied it all together? Oxide…oxygen… hyperbaric oxygen therapy…hyperbaric chambers. Is that cool, or what?
Anyway…back to the spinach smoothie recipe.
Put away all your doubts about how all this will taste. We promise…it won’t taste anything like your grandmother’s spinach dish. We recommend, if your budget allows, to look for some organic spinach. Costco tends to carry it at an affordable price. Your local store results might vary. Point is…watch for a good deal and get plenty. While you’re at it, get plenty of bananas, frozen berries or mixed fruits, and some chia or flaxseed. (chia and flaxseed are rich in heart-healthy omega 3 fatty acids)
Get all your ingredients together and get ready for a delicious treat in only a couple of minutes. Here’s the recipe…
2 Large Handfuls of Spinach (high in Calcium) or PowerGreens
1/2 C Water, milk, or your favorite alternative milk (cold)
1/2 C Frozen Berries
1/4 C Frozen Pineapple
2 TBSP Chia or Flax Seed (high in Omega 3)
Use your favorite Smoothie Blender.
Vitamix is at the top of my list. Although when we travel, we use a NutriBullet
Blend on low for 30 seconds, then on high for another minute, or watch for a smooth blend
(after all it’s called a “spinach smoothie recipe”)
Pour in a glass and ENJOY!
